Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Roberts is fourth in the Roberts generation that has lived in Atlanta, beginning with her farmer great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in theater from a young stage. When he was studying of Emory University in 1952 he was a part of productions at Emory University and elsewhere in Atlanta. In 1953, he enlisted in the Air Force and while stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi, he acted in a production with Betty Lou Bredemus. Eric Anthony was their first born. The couple was married in the year. In 1957 the couple left the air force and Walter began his studies in Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter started working at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the children's local Saturday morning show on television called Bum Bum and His Buddies that they self-funded. In 1964, Walter and Betty Lou established the Actors and Writers Workshop. It ran for 6 years. Lelisa Billingsley often referred to as Lisa, was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
